Release Cycle and Maintenance Model
Avaloq has introduced a new release cycle and adapted its maintenance model in 2011. This major change was implemented to better suit our customers' needs.
According to the new release cycle, Avaloq delivers a new release of the Avaloq Banking System every six months. This short cycle enables us to regularly deliver innovation to the Avaloq Community.
Every release will be supported for two years after its official delivery to customers. When the ordinary release maintenance period has ended, Avaloq customers can for an additional service fee extend the maintenance of the currently used release for another 18 months.
When upgrading to a newer release version, a customer can combine up to four Avaloq releases into one upgrade step. This means, for example, that a direct upgrade from Release 3.2 to Release 3.6 is possible. This gives customers the flexibility to define their own pace of implementing new releases.
Every new release comes with a variety of new features, providing customers with the benefit of the extended functionality and technical innovations. Prior to the official rollout, which is typically in April and October, the new release undergoes an internal alpha testing and is thereafter implemented by a pilot customer.
For maintenance purposes, Avaloq delivers fix packs for every release on a regular basis. Fix packs generally remedy shortcomings and adjust functionality that needs to be changed due to alterations in third-party systems or regulatory requirements.
In order to enable customers and partners to plan in the medium term, Avaloq publishes the delivery dates for all releases and fix packs several months in advance. For long-term planning, Avaloq provides additional information about upcoming releases including functional enhancements and roadmaps.
