Avaloq strengthens its Ticino base with new, state-of-the-art office building

Avaloq, an international fintech leader, has completed its new, state-of-the-art building at its Ticino site in Switzerland. The new building located in Bioggio stands alongside Avaloq’s existing facilities and was inaugurated on 26 February.

The new building allows the entire Avaloq workforce in Ticino to be united in one location, moving employees previously located in Pregassona to the enlarged location in Bioggio. With a combined capacity for more than 800 people, the new Ticino base also allows for further growth of the Bioggio workforce.

The new building is equipped with a modern ventilation system, a building management system and it is designed to be furnished with solar panels on the roof. The building layout includes elements of flexible working concepts like so-called project rooms, while retaining employees’ fixed workplaces. Connecting the existing building and the new one is a “piazza” which is designed for different kinds of employee interaction like spontaneous meetings, informal get-togethers or leisure activities. The construction of the new building has created a patio between the two buildings, allowing for additional outdoor space in a wind-protected area.

The new building in Bioggio comes alongside the recent expansion of Avaloq’s London office, which is double the size of its existing facility, and the opening last May of state-of-the-art premises in Singapore. This latter building is the first Avaloq office globally to combine Avaloq’s software and services expertise in one centralized hub.

Tobias Unger, Regional Manager Switzerland and Liechtenstein at Avaloq, said: “With the new premises, Avaloq confirms its commitment to its location in Ticino. Having been rooted in the region since the 1990s, we value its economic growth as well as the large number of local and international talents. Furthermore, the enlarged Bioggio site is reflective of Avaloq’s innovation power and supports the firm’s endeavour to play a crucial role in the huge transformation the banking industry is going through.”

Pascal Föhn, COO at Avaloq, added: “A central part of our working culture is to provide our employees with a stimulating environment that fosters innovation. On a practical level, this includes providing them with a working environment that inspires them to exchange ideas and pioneer new territory.”
