Tobias Unger joins Avaloq
The Avaloq group has announced today that Tobias Unger, the current COO and Deputy CEO of Falcon Private Bank, will join Avaloq on 1 October 2016. He succeeds Markus Gröninger as CEO of Avaloq’s Swiss Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre. Markus Gröninger has been promoted to the Avaloq Group Executive Board and takes over the responsibility for all existing BPO centres in the Avaloq Global Processing Network.
As CEO of Avaloq Sourcing (Switzerland & Liechtenstein) and member of the Avaloq Executive Board, Tobias Unger will be responsible for the future development of Avaloq’s BPO centre for Switzerland and Liechtenstein within the Avaloq group’s Global Processing Network (GPN). Tobias Unger’s broad banking know-how and operational management experience enable him to lead the company in the next phase of its development.
The current CEO of Avaloq Sourcing (Switzerland & Liechtenstein), Markus Gröninger, takes on a new role within the Avaloq group. Having successfully led Avaloq’s largest BPO centre since 2010, he has been promoted to Group Chief Global Processing Network and member of Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. In this new role, he will be globally in charge of the harmonisation and further strengthening of Avaloq’s live BPO centres in Switzerland, the European Union and Asia Pacific.
Tobias Unger joins Avaloq from Zurich based Falcon Private Bank, where he served as the COO and Deputy CEO since 2010. In this function, among other responsibilities, he oversaw Falcon Private Bank’s outsourcing of its core banking IT and back office to Avaloq since the beginning of the cooperation in 2011. Before joining Falcon Private Bank he worked as an Investment Banker both at UBS and Merrill Lynch in Zurich and in London. He holds a Master Degree in Law from the University of Berne.
Markus Gröninger, Group Chief Global Processing Network, says, “Tobias Unger is exactly the right person for the job. With his many years of experience, he has built up a vast amount of specialist knowledge coupled with outstanding leadership skills. He is a member of the Avaloq Community since many years and perfectly familiar with the advantages of Avaloq’s technology and services but also with the banking industry challenges. I am delighted to welcome him at Avaloq and convinced that he will contribute significantly to the future growth of our managed banking services business.”
