A bit about the role

We are looking for the Region Europe Head of Business Controlling in Berlin for the Europe region which is composed of different territories, mainly UK, Lux and DE. The Europe business controlling team is composed of 4 controllers.

The regional business is mainly related to the provisioning of banking licenses, implementation and post-implementation projects (change the bank), banking services (run the bank), to approximately 30 banks in Europe.

Together with the team, the regional head of business controlling is in charge of securing; correctness, timely delivery and quality of the monthly PL closing for management accounts purposes, yearly statutory accounts, tax statements, treasury control in the region. Furthermore, he/she is also responsible for budget preparation (regional revenue, expenses, margins), monthly PL forecast, cost control, identification of measures to secure the achievement of the financial targets of the region together with the business head of the region and the local management team.

Project controlling, i.e. regular financial control of the status of the projects, estimation of completion analysis together with the project delivery organization, accuracy of the bookings, financial transparency of the projects, are also part of the job.

The regional head of business controlling is also in charge with his team to support the local sales and account management team in the preparation and approval of the financial business cases for new clients / markets / services and for checking all the upselling offers to existing clients.

All accounting and controlling activities are based on IFRS accounting principle (particularly IFRS 15 for revenue recognition) and duly registered in our SAP ECC6.0 system.

Your key tasks

  • Consolidated revenue budget, FC, outlook for region Europe
  • Monthly closing, revenue recognition, support to billing
  • Regional and global cost controlling (sales, AM, project delivery governance & services)
  • Financial reporting of the region (PL by nature and by service and projects financial report)
  • Local / Statutory books, BoD preparation, tax declarations, support to local audit
  • Yearly support to Key Account Managers for the pricing and yearly service charge estimation
  • Approval of client offering and ensure the correct application of the relevant contract T&C (pricing, rates, CPI, service increase etc…)
  • Approval of contract deviations, if any, in accordance with the governance rules
  • Support to the business with financial information in case of needs
  • Project financial controlling (budget, actual, EAC, deviations, actions)
  • Financial approval of external costs and resources
  • Application Management Service and release & Upgrade financial controlling, including chargeability analysis
  • Definition of yearly / quarterly sales targets
  • Monthly report of sales KPIs
  • Sales FC reporting

A bit about you

  • 5-10 years’ experience in similar positions
  • Knowledge / experience with the SAP system
  • Experience with international companies and the ability to deal with teams located abroad
  • Result oriented skills and ability to deal with changes driven by the complexity of the business
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Fluency in German and English

It would be a real bonus if you have

  • University degree within a finance based specialism
  • Experience in SW and SaaS business
  • Banking business knowledge
  • Power BI and data analytics experience
