Thomas Beck was Avaloq’s Head of Innovation Development for three years before joining the Group Executive Board in 2015. In April 2021 Thomas Beck was appointed as Co-Chief Executive Officer. Thomas Beck has more than 30 years of IT experience in the financial industry, and he held various senior management positions at UniCredit Bank before joining Avaloq in 2012. Thomas Beck holds a PhD from the Technical University of Munich and has lectured in economics and financial mathematics at two leading German universities.
Co-Chief Executive Officer
Martin Greweldinger was appointed as Avaloq’s Co-Chief Executive Officer in April 2021, having joined the company in 2019 as Chief Product Officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry with international companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Credit Suisse and Commerzbank. Martin Greweldinger holds an MBA from IE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
Martin Büchi PhD
Martin Büchi has been with Avaloq since 2004, holding various leadership functions, including Lead Software Architect and Head Architecture. In April 2021 he was appointed Chief Architect, joining Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. Martin brings more than 20 years of business experience in addition to his academic achievements. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) as well as a PhD in Computer Science from Åbo Akademi University in Finland.
Chief Commercial Officer
Barry Frame joined Avaloq in 2018 as a Sales Director for the UK market. In April 2021 he was appointed to Avaloq’s Group Executive Board as Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to joining Avaloq, Barry was in various client and sales leadership roles at international companies such as Genpact, SEI Investments and Brown Brothers Harriman. Barry holds a bachelor’s degree in Financial Services from Bournemouth University and various industry accreditations such as the CFA’s Investment Management Certificate.
Hubert Gmünder PhD
Hubert Gmünder joined Avaloq in 2016 as Head Group Corporate Legal and was promoted to Group General Counsel in December 2020. Since April 2021 he is a member of Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. Before joining Avaloq, Hubert spent two years researching bankruptcy law, including a one-year stay at Harvard Law School. Prior to that, Hubert worked as an outside counsel in the Corporate/M&A department of law firm Schellenberg Wittmer. Hubert holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Lausanne and a PhD from the University of Neuchâtel. He is admitted to the Swiss bar.
Chief Project Delivery Officer
Tobias Marbler has been with Avaloq since 2016, holding different leadership functions, including Head of CTO Implementation. In April 2021 he was appointed Chief Project Delivery Officer, joining Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. Prior to Avaloq, Tobias held various positions at Deutsche Bank in London and Zurich as well as consulting roles at McKinsey & Company and Arthur Andersen. He holds a master’s degree in Business Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg, an MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) as well as a Certificate of Excellence in Technology Strategy from the University of California, Berkeley.
Chief Operating Officer
Thomas Widmer joined Avaloq in May 2021 as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Group Executive Board. Before joining Avaloq, Thomas was Partner at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he supported and advised financial institutions on strategy and business model transformation, operating model and process optimization, as well as the development of digital products and new businesses. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from the University of Basel and a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).
Jesper Hybholt Sorensen
Chief Financial Officer
Jesper Hybholt Sorensen joined Avaloq in November 2021 as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Group Executive Board. Before joining Avaloq, Jesper worked at IBM and DuPont as Controller and Sr. Director, and most recently as Vice President of Finance at Oracle in California. Jesper holds a master’s degree in Economics & Business Management from Aarhus University in Denmark and is certified in Risk Management & Strategic Decision from Stanford University.
Chief Product and Development Officer
Torsten Pull joined Avaloq in September 2022 as Chief Product and Development Officer as well as a member of the Group Executive Board. Previously, he was responsible for Product Management and Development for the Lending Business Unit at Finastra, and before that he spent almost twenty years at Deutsche Bank in various leadership roles, including CIO for Core Technology and Managing Director in the Chief Digital Office. Torsten holds a Master of Science in Business Economics from the University of Trier.
Chief Cloud and Infrastructure Officer
As Chief Cloud and Infrastructure Officer, Torsten Boettjer is a member of Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. He joined in September 2022 from Oracle Germany where he was Head of Cloud Engineering. Before Oracle, he was CTO for Cisco’s Software Business Group in Zurich. Prior to that, he held various senior positions at Swisscom and T-Systems, among others. Torsten holds an MBA from the Bundeswehr University in Munich.
Chief Client Service Officer
Roberto Vigano joined Avaloq in 2001 as Head of Banking Operations. He has since then held various leadership functions within the organization, most recently as Head of Technical Client Management. Roberto was appointed Chief Client Service Officer as of September 2022, joining Avaloq’s Group Executive Board. Before Avaloq, he was Head of Back Office and a senior business analyst at Deutsche Bank in Milan and Frankfurt, respectively. Roberto has a degree in accounting and computer science, and he has completed the LEAP program at INSEAD.
Chief Banking Operations Officer
Thomas Fischer joined Avaloq in September 2022 as Managing Director for Germany and the rest of continental Europe, excluding Switzerland and Liechtenstein. He is also the CEO of Avaloq Sourcing (Europe) AG and Chief Banking Operations Officer as a member of the Group Executive Board. Until end of May 2022, he was Chief Operating Officer at ODDO BHF, an independent French-German financial group. Before joining ODDO BHF, he held various senior management positions at UBS, Commerzbank as well as Dresdner Bank. Thomas has an MBA from INSEAD and a master’s degree in computer science and business administration from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
