Francisco is Avaloq’s creator and a major shareholder, a visionary entrepreneur who’s dedicated his career to finance sector IT.

He sees his goal as disrupting familiar business models, reshaping the relationships between banks and their clients and making financial institutions more efficient, secure and transparent.

Francisco has a master’s degree in informatics from ETH Zurich – Einstein’s University – and a certificate in business administration from ETH’s Center for Industrial Management. Apart from his family, his great loves include playing jazz piano and helping tech start-ups.

Juerg Hunziker

Group Chief Executive Officer

Jürg is a proven international leader, with 30 years’ expertise in financial technology and banking. He is responsible for harnessing the expertise of Avaloq’s more than 2,000 global employees and executing Avaloq’s business strategy.

Away from work, he is an outdoor man, a keen cyclist, runner and hiker. He is an active conservationist who supports several charities concerned with sustainability and protecting the environment.

Jürg joined the Group Executive Board as Avaloq’s Chief Markets Officer and Deputy CEO in 2016. Before this, he set up and then ran Sungard’s European division and was responsible for launching a number of capital market solutions.

Thomas Beck

Group Chief Technology Officer

Thomas is Avaloq’s innovator-in-chief and the man who is making the digital revolution happen.

He was our Head of Innovation Development for three years before joining the Executive Board as General Manager of Software Development in 2015. He has 20 years’ IT experience in the finance industry and held several senior management positions at UniCredit Bank before joining Avaloq.

Thomas also has an impressive academic track record. He has a doctorate from the Technical University of Munich and has lectured in economics and financial mathematics at two of Germany’s leading universities.

Pascal Foehn

Group Chief Operations Officer

Pascal is endlessly enthusiastic about Avaloq’s brand, its innovation culture and the way it goes about its business – which includes, for him, being a great place to work.

In his role he is responsible for HR, Marketing, Communication, Strategy, IT, Facilities and Procurement.

He loves music and going to live concerts, and is a keen hiker and cross-country skier. He lived and worked in Hong Kong in the early part of his career and is interested in Asian cultures and markets.

Pascal joined the Group Executive Board in 2015, after five years in charge of building the brand and making our sales and marketing more focused and international.

He holds a doctorate in Marketing from the University of Zurich.

Dean Gluyas

Group Chief Financial Officer

Dean is an internationally respected growth manager with a key role to play as Avaloq expands into the world’s capital markets.

He is also the company’s resident wine expert – a connoisseur and collector who can tell a Margaux from a Haut-Brion at a distance of twenty paces.

Dean joined us from SunGard, where he was CFO of the financial systems business, in 2016. His responsibilities at Avaloq include planning and analysis, treasury, tax and legal and compliance issues. He began his career with PwC, moving into oil with ARCO (then owned by BP) and then into financial technology with SunGard.

Markus Groeninger

Group Chief Markets Officer

Markus is responsible for Avaloq’s global sales and market approach.

He has Avaloq’s most distinctive means of transport – a classic LA cop-style Moto Guzzi California, complete with vintage sidecar – and plays a mean game of tennis.

Markus became CEO of Avaloq Sourcing (Switzerland & Liechtenstein) Ltd, then known as B-Source, in 2010 and took over the responsibility for our entire Global Processing Network as a member of the Avaloq Group Executive Board in 2016. Prior to joining Avaloq, he gained valuable experience as VP and country leader for Oracle in Switzerland and as managing director of CSC Switzerland.

Paco Hauser

Regional Manager EMEA

With over 25 years in the financial services industry under his belt, Paco has a wealth of insight and experience. He will be an essential part of Avaloq’s digital transformation strategy for clients across the rapidly growing EMEA region. With a passion for the outdoors in his downtime, Paco is a proficient skier and tennis player. Through a foundation he is active in fostering and coaching budding tennis talent. Paco joined Avaloq from Appway AG where he was instrumental in growing the firm from a start-up to an international company as General Manager for EMEA and a board member. Prior to that, he was a Partner at Arthur D Little.

Michael Pahlke

Group Chief Service Delivery Officer (CSDO)

Michael is an industry expert with over 25 years of experience in high tech and finance. At Avaloq, he ensures that clients benefit from a smooth service experience. Michael likes to keep active through hiking, skiing and golfing, and spending time outdoors with his family. He calls Switzerland his home today, but has spent a significant portion of his life in other parts of the world, including the US, the UK and Germany. Elements of these different cultures – straightforwardness, a can-do attitude and pragmatism – have influenced Michael strongly and are a significant success factor in his career.

Tobias Unger

Tobias Unger

Regional Manager Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Tobias joined Avaloq in 2016 as CEO of Avaloq’s Swiss service centre. However, he had already been a member of the Avaloq Community for many years – namely as a COO at Falcon Private Bank, an Avaloq client. In other words, the full-blooded banker has become a banking technology professional.

Tobias has a passion for leading and developing people. He is a father of two children, an avid golfer and he has a keen interest in how technology impacts markets and industries as well as humanity overall.

Before joining Falcon Private Bank he worked as an investment banker both at UBS and Merrill Lynch. He holds a master's degree in law from the University of Bern.
