We’ve got our own way of doing things

Avaloq is all about great ideas – and knowing how to turn them into products and services. But alongside the constant stream of ideas, there’s a real company culture that you won’t find anywhere else.

When we asked our people about this, they came up with five key values – NEXUS, DRIVE, COURAGE, RIGOUR and INSIGHT. Together, they define the way we work together and do business.

It’s a culture that values everyone’s opinion. And we have our own proud traditions. Once a month, everybody at Avaloq, including the leadership team, meets up for breakfast at our famous Friday Gipfeli Meeting. We spend an hour together over croissants and coffee and share and talk about what’s going on in our world – and it’s amazing how many new ideas first see the light of day at these informal breakfast meetings.

Avaloq at HackZurich 2018 with crypto challenge

On 14 September, HackZurich was another great experience with 500 innovators from all over the world! Participants not only from Europe but coming even from Australia and South America! Programming, coding and hacking: 40 hours non-stop. Kilos of pizzas, power snacks and drinks were consumed, while brains and computers ran hot. The winners of the Avaloq crypto challenge created a modular scraping system for collecting sentiment data about cryptocurrencies from social media end-points.

In Berlin, we joined a major event called B2Run, and we were happy to be a part of it. Thumbs up to all runners and fans, and congrats to Fanja and Maximilian for being the fastest Avaloq runners!

Getting ready for the holiday season in Switzerland

Our teams in Zurich like to warm up for the Christmas holiday season with a festive get-together. It’s a chance to sample a few unexpected culinary delights with colleagues, and to have a chat with people from other parts of the company. 

Run for a cause in Singapore

An Avaloq team of over 30 runners in Singapore took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. Everyone had a lot of fun while helping to raise funds for a long list of deserving local charities.

Work-life balance in the Philippines

At Avaloq we don’t just promote work-life balance, we live it. There are plenty of after-work activities for our people at the Manila office, with basketball, badminton, volleyball, online and board games, movie nights and a whole lot more throughout the year.
