Banking Specialist - Head of German Tax Services
A bit about the role
Within Banking Operations business area, the Banking Operations – Tax Team in Berlin and Düsseldorf supports its clients in operational tax matters. Using Avaloq’s modern banking software and intelligent, reliable processes, the Tax team aims to deliver efficient services in a constantly changing tax environment.
- Lead and manage the German Tax team
- Coordinate statutory notifications in line with directives from the Federal Central Tax Office and related institutions
- Oversee the handling of customer inquiries regarding the tax treatment of securities transactions
- Drive project work for implementing legal requirements on tax and reporting topics (e.g., withholding tax, investment tax reform, church tax)
- Contribute to the development of new functionalities for our banking platform to enhance process efficiency and minimize operational risks
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements within the team
- Participate in projects aimed at acquiring new clients
- Review and prepare annual tax reports for clients under mandate
- Maintain goal-oriented communication with clients and internal stakeholders
A bit about you
- Completed training as a bank clerk or degree in economics with a specialization in taxation
- In-depth knowledge of national and international tax law
- Proven experience in managing tax-related banking topics
- Several years of professional and personnel management experience in international and remote work environments
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken
- High level of initiative and assertiveness
- Structured, detail-oriented approach combined with quick comprehension
- Strong customer and service orientation
- Resilient, team-oriented, and adaptable
