Tax Specialist

A bit about the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Tax Specialist with a passion for the tech industry to join our Group Tax team. Your work, whether it’s your personal contribution in the day-to-day local tax compliance work for our two companies in Manila or your support in one of our various tax projects in the Philippines and the APAC region, is used by our Head of Group Tax to ensure global compliance and make strategic company decisions.

You have collected first experiences in the areas of Philippine tax compliance and international tax law and possess excellent analytical and planning skills. You support our Group Tax Team; take responsibility for sub-projects whilst managing different stakeholders.

Your key tasks

  • Support the Group Tax team on Philippine tax and regional/ international tax matters.
  • Prepare tax calculations, periodic tax returns (e.g., Philippine corporate taxes, withholding taxes, value-added taxes, stamp taxes,) and required attachments thereto.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing & submission to the tax office of all tax returns and requirements, including attachments thereto
  • Prepare reconciliation schedules of tax accounts for periodic tax reporting, statutory/ external audits, and tax audits, if any
  • Ensure that accounting records and documentary supporting documents comply with BIR substantiation requirements.
  • Support in monitoring overall tax compliance with BIR’s requirements
  • Close follow-up with the tax developments in the jurisdictions relevant to the Avaloq Group
  • Support in the coordination with tax authorities and/or external advisors
  • Support in preparing documentation and processing of VAT refund applications at the administrative and judicial level
  • Support and assist the Group Tax Team in administrative matters.

Your functional reporting line is to the APAC Tax Specialist/ Manager

A bit about you

  • Preferably a Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Big Four tax firm or in similar in-house tax position in a multinational environment
  • Exact, diligent, solution-driven, goal-oriented working attitude with a high focus on quality;
  • Exhibit excellent analytical skills, the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment while being able to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Hands-on approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

It would be a real bonus if you have

  • Experience in international tax law is a plus.
  • User experience in SAP FI is an advantage.
  • Additional education in the area of taxation and/or finance is a plus.
